Bloody Computers

I tell you what if I did this project as a learning curve( and I did) it is creating a real challenge. Two hours later and the photos are up but do you think I can add descriptions to them? NO. Bloody hell by the end of the year this had better get easier!!!. The photos were taken at Speers Point on the lovely shores of Lake macQuarie NSW. We created quite a stir with Nancy's nakedness. The grey scarf ( number 8) is in zara merino 8 ply in Chinook pattern off Ravelry. lovely and soft wool and easy knitting.
The pale blue ( number 7) is in Filatura di Crosa cahmere/silk. the design is my own with a nod to Vogues dropped moss stitch pattern.

Naked Nancy

I was having trouble with getting photos that looked even half way decent. A trip to Reuse at sandgate (I love that shop) and low and behold there was Nancy just waiting to be draped in scarves. I have decided to leave her in her naked state. Todays photos taken at home but in future Naked nancy will visit some well known Newcastle sights to have her picture taken.

scarf 5 and 6

Went to take photos of latest offerings. First of all couldn't find the camera so i decided to take the photos on my phone. all well and good but when I connected the phone via bluetooth to the laptop couldn't find the photos to transfer them. So I gave up and went to bed. today after scouring the house from top to bottom found camera. Yay! but not to be.... lined up scarf for it's little photo shoot and....... Flat battery. No more batteries in house so photos will wait for another day. I did finally finish the little red scarf 5. looks very nice but is probably a little narrow for my liking.
Scarf 6 is knitted using Yarn harlots one row handspun scarf. Lovely easy pattern and looks good in the wool used. Wool is Moda Vera Boulavardia bought from spotlight. it is wool and acrylic. nice and soft. One small problem when the dog Sylosz is babysitting slobbered on the wool and the colour start to come off on my fingers. must remember to tell whoever gets it not to wear it in the rain!

scarf 5

Not quite finished this one. Just need to do the other end, join and block so images to follow next weekend. This one was red lace weight wool used double. I don't know now where the wool came from but it really suits this scarf pattern. It is turning out very nice. maybe a bit narrow but definately the prettiest pattern so far. It wasn't too hard either. The reason i haven't finished is I got sidetracked by knitting a cardy for myself at the same time. Been looking at more scarf patterns as 56 odd is a lot of different patterns to come up with. i think i may have to design some of my own to accomplish the required numbers. Hopefully next weekend i will work out how to edit this post and add photos so i can start to keep the posts with the right photos. steep learning curve here we come.

scarf 4

I'm pretty certain this is the one for marilyn. I can so see her wearing it. I like Karen's idea of letting the staff look at them on line and choosing the ones they like best. I think I might give that a go. Need a few more first though.

scarf 3

Getting good at this now. These are not great photos. The scarf is actually much nicer than this. In fact i think this is my favourite so far.

number 2

Here is scarf number 2 or is it 3. all will be revealed when it is added.

photos at last

now how do i get said photos onto the blog? Now that wasn't so hard. Scarf number one all present and correct.

somewhere to begin

Well blog now set up and I will play around with it until the new year when i start in earnest. The plan is to knit 52 different scarves in a year. One a week or thereabouts. I have 50 staff so there are next years Christmas presents done. i aim to match the scarves to the staff. collecting wool for the project not a problem as the stash is rather wayward already. it will give me a good excuse to accumulate more yummy little balls of deliciousness semi guiltfree. i hadn't lost this after all so will publish now to confuse the issue.

a new year begins

So the new year is here and i have already completed 4 scarves. not a bad start. I plan to blog mostly on Sundays when each new scarf should be completed (hopefully!!).
Scarves produced so far are a blue one in honeycomb stitch from One skein wonders. it is in naturally haven NZ merino bought in Dunedin when karen and I were there for Kez's graduation. I was very restrained whilst there and only bought 2 balls of wool both for the scarf project. This scarf took me 1 day to complete. like I said a very easy pattern!
Scarf 2 is Larch scarflette a ravelry download pattern. i also did this one for Liz for Xmas. easy to knit and looks great although it needs fairly vigorous blocking to be a decent size. it is knitted in dark green Misti alpaca sock wool. looks great and am tempted to keep it. knitted in 3 days over Christmas.
Scarf 3 is Bow scarf from ravelry. this one is knitted in Louisa harding Alpaca, wool and silk. lovely and soft in a very pale green. The wool was bought in Bellingen. Knitted in 1 day again.
Scarf 4 is Vine lace scarf again fro One Skein wonders. a simple lace pattern but a pig of a thing to knit as it was really hard to visualise where the pattern went next and it involved lots of undoing. pale pink Debbie Bliss andes in alpaca and silk. Very very soft. probably destined for Maz who is a very pink girl and I am sure will really like it especially as she often wears scarves at work. I still have to sort out photos of these items. I need a good spot to take the photos so they look good.
